ABU DHABI, 22nd September, 2021 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, expressed his appreciation to all participants in the Eshraqat Festival, which celebrates tolerance and peaceful coexistence among young people in schools and universities. I believe that your participation has ensured the success of the festival and will enable an outcome of lasting significance, Sheikh Nahyan said. This came during Sheikh Nahyan’s opening speech at the Towards A Brighter Tomorrow Forum, which took place as part of the Eshraqat festival, which was organised by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and concluded today.Sheikh Nahyan explained that the festival focuses attention on a joint programme launched by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence to promote tolerance in the public and private schools in the UAE. The programme seeks ways to enable students, teachers, and parents to work together on volunteering and public service projects in schools and their surrounding communities. Tolerance is an important facilitator of the bold vision that our country’s leaders have presented for the next 50 years of the UAE’s growth and development. It is also an important skill for young people to develop as they prepare for their own future. Selflessly helping others, seeing and meeting the other’s needs while expecting nothing in return, is a powerful way to learn and experience the value of tolerance, he added. We will continue our efforts to bring together all members of our society to create a vibrant, balanced, and peaceful society that is focused on improving the quality of life for all people. We will promote and strengthen a culture of human fraternity and social responsibility among individuals, companies, and government entities. We will continue our quest for development, peace, and prosperity for the UAE, for the region, and for the entire world. This Festival has been a wonderful celebration of youth and their abilities to affect the future of our societies. Together, we will unleash the spirit of tolerance, which was brought to life during this festival, as a gateway to solving the great global challenges that confront our very humanity, Sheikh Nahyan said, in conclusion. The last day of the festival saw a turnout of 550 participants from the UAE and the world across 12 sessions, events and workshops, taking the total number of participants to around 15,000.
