ABU DHABI, 22nd April, 2019 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, highlighted the work of the Ministry of Tolerance in helping workers celebrate Labour Day by providing various services, along with organising activities at their residences.He said these efforts reflected the UAE’s faith in its institutions, and in the role of the workforce in realising the country’s overall development, and stressed that through this celebration, the ministry aimed to support the country’s employment sector.The ministry also wishes to communicate with workers and cooperate with private companies and public authorities to ensure their rights, he added. He also noted that Labour Day is an opportunity to showcase the nation’s belief in workplace values that will contribute to its overall advancement, in light of the diversity of the UAE community and the over 200 nationalities coexisting peacefully throughout the country.Sheikh Nahyan made this statement after reviewing the ministry’s latest preparations to celebrate Labour Day, which will start on 26th April in the Workers’ City in Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, and see the participation of ministries, as well as federal and local authorities, along with leading private companies.The celebration will include the launch of the ‘Mobile Hospitals Initiative’, which will offer free medical services to workers, as well as the ‘2,000 Meals Initiative’, under which Emirati citizens will prepare and offer home-made meals to workers.Sheikh Nahyan stressed that guaranteeing the rights of workers is enshrined in Emirati law, regardless of religion, race or culture, with the aim of preserving the dignity, humanity and freedom of workers.The UAE’s leadership is offering its support, as well as care and appreciation to workers across the country, he noted.
