Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, awarded winners of the cricket Workforce Challenge Cup, which took place on Monday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the tournament was attended by dignitaries from various sectors and ambassadors of several countries to the UAE and a crowd of workers. The former Pakistan national team cricket star, Misbah-ul-Haq, participated in the games.
Sheikh Nahyan said, “Enhancing the quality of life for our workforce in the UAE is one of the priorities of our wise leadership. Holding events to unleash workers’ hobbies and skills is one way of supporting this approach.”
He added, “We praise this competition for giving a platform for our workers to enjoy this special day.”
Dr. Al Awar, in turn, stated that this sports event is an opportunity to celebrate the key role of workers of various nationalities in the UAE and their contribution to the nation’s development. It also recognises them as partners and productive parties in the UAE’s development journey.
He added that organising such events yearly is part of the UAE’s keenness to enhance the culture of providing a decent and encouraging work environment to boost productivity. It is also part of ensuring a comprehensive ecosystem that offers social security to all employees in the workforce while guaranteeing their rights equitably with those of employers.
