AL DHAFRA, 4th March, 2019 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, reviewed the second edition of the Knights of Tolerance Programme on its second day.The programme was organised by the Ministry of Tolerance, in cooperation with several local and federal authorities in Al Dhafra.During his meeting with the Knights of Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan stressed that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan demonstrated, through his work and actions, the values of tolerance and coexistence, noting that he was wise in his decisions and achievements and courageous when facing challenges.Sheikh Zayed was also open-minded, listened to opinions and feedback, and was keen to promote the values of peace, coexistence and tolerance around the world, as well as preserve the nation’s identity and heritage, he added.Sheikh Nahyan affirmed that the ministry’s goal is to empower all people who would like to be a positive and help promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the youth, families and the local community while stressing that the ministry is being supported by the wise leadership, represented by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.He also urged the programme’s organisers to ensure that the message of tolerance will reach the programme’s participants, without discrimination based on gender, nationality, belief, culture, language, capacity or position while noting that tolerance in the UAE is not only an ethical duty, but it is a fundamental way to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development and social and economic progress, as well as to build positive relations in a world characterised by diversity and pluralism.The participants of the programme’s second edition expressed their happiness at participating in the programme, which is providing them with substantial theoretic and practical expertise while stressing that the programme is well organised according to high academic standards. They also hoped that the programme will continue and expressed their happiness at the support provided by Sheikh Nahyan, which confirms the ministry’s efforts to promote tolerance.Sheikh Nahyan was accompanied by Afraa Al Saberi, Director-General of the Office of the Minister of Tolerance, Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the National Tolerance Programme, and a number officials from the ministry and experts participating in the programme.
